I was recently in the market for some cordless power-tools, it’d been a while since I’d been tool-shopping and I soon realised that I had some serious catching up to do. The world of cordless power-tools is, to say the least, overwhelming!

I’ve lived in a lot of houses, in a lot of very hot and very cold places (thanks Army!) and I’ve picked up a trick or two along the way. What follows are just a few tips that will keep your home more comfortable (be that cooler or warmer), and will probably save you money.

This is one of those jobs that can be simple, inexpensive, and even fun, to rectify. But more importantly it can save you a world of problems and a lot of money in the long-term, particularly if you live somewhere that experiences torrential rain. (like Townsville ⛈😉).

There are several times when you want to do a job quickly, but if that job happens to be at a height: PAUSE, and ask yourself: how much time is a serious injury going to cost me?   

A 'jammed' or 'sticking' door is where you have a door that doesn’t want to close or open easily. You'll usually have to give it some encouragement to open or close, by way of a push or pull. There may be a squeaking or scraping sound associated with the problem, and the door perhaps shudders or flexes when opened/closed.

In my previous post on this topic I talked through the design form my ultimate fruit and vegetable garden. Well it turns out that that wasn’t the ‘ultimate’ design after all, because I found a few improvements I could make to it and, frankly, I found more fruits and vegetables than I could squeeze into the old plan.  So here is the ULTIMATE-er fruit and vegetable garden plan – update!!

As someone who works, and occasionally lives, out of the back of my ute I want to make the most efficient use of space possible – as a result I was naturally drawn towards the idea of getting a set of cargo drawers.  But there were three problems:

One thing I love about any semi-complicated project is the fact that I can do some planning before I get started.  The requirement for research, sketches and bouncing ideas around sure creates lots of anticipation, and the anticipation really is half the fun!
